[Re]treat yourself to a week of radical self care.
I am so excited to welcome you, to one of the five blue zones on this planet, the beautiful island Sardinia (Italy) in the Mediterranean sea. For a week filled with yoga, meditation, ceremonial rituals, deep relaxation, self-exploration and delicious food, in a beautiful eco resort sanctuary, in the north of the island.
On this magical retreat, we will invoke and celebrate the Sun, as it reaches its high point of the year, just before Summer Solstice. We will be igniting our inner heart fire, rediscover our radiance and celebrate the abundance of life. Allowing our bodies to move freely, our hearts to blaze open and hear the echo of the radical YES to life.
The Splendor of the Sun yoga retreat will be a celebratory journey of you, filling your vessel with radical self care, in a beautiful eco-retreat center surrounded by nature in all its magnificence.
Join Pernille Aven for the Splendor of the Sun Yoga Retreat to Sardinia June 6-13, 2020.
the yogic practices and retreat program
Every morning you’ll wake up in beautiful surroundings: Slowly reawakening while sipping herbal tea and a some fresh fruit for you belly, before starting the first Yoga Sadhana Practice, which will include: pranayama (breathwork), Myths (storytelling), chanting (singing mantras) and moving into our asana practice (vinyasa flow style - movement of your body, mind and spirit). This practice will open up your body in a rejuvenating, free and joyful way. Leaving you feeling warm, cleansed and sparkling from the inside out, ready to meet the day under the splendor of the sun.
Later in the afternoon/evening we will rejoin in a more gentle yoga asana practice with lots of opportunities to dive deep into our hearts and closely feel into what is moving through the body and tap into the currents of any transformational change going on within. When we find ourselves in a more slow pace in gentle hatha/restorative/yin yoga, we are devoting ourselves to reflection and contemplation, balancing the rush of our busy lives. We will also be exploring a variety of the traditional yoga practices and will include yoga nidra (yoga sleep), meditation techniques, journaling and ceremonial rituals to reconnect and remember the forces of energy that runs through us as an embodiment of love and vessel of all life.
Here is an example of a the daily program*:
Wake-up to herbal tea and fruit
8.00 Morning yoga practice
17.00 Afternoon yoga practice
*The program might change a bit, be open for slight changes
Tuesday will be a silent-day.
On Wednesday we will eat breakfast followed by our morning yoga practice, and then go on a excursion (it is voluntary to participate, but will require pre sign-up, and an additional fee / else you will be able to discover the Island on your own that day). Pernille Aven will go on the excursion and lead a yogic ritual and meditation, and we will have a local guide to talk about the place we visit. More info to come about the excursion closer to the retreat or upon sign-up.
On arrival- and departure-day (Saturdays) there will be one meal and one yoga practice. All other day there will be two.

Group taxis can be arranged for around €70 one-way split between 1-3 people if you decide not to hire a car.
There are a couple of Car-hire firms recommended by the retreat centre, so please ask us for details of those when you book, or use your airlines recommended ones as they usually offer great deals when booking.
If you are planning to hire a car (which we recommend) and would like to offer a lift to another guest who may be arriving at the same time as you, please let us know, so we can coordinate.
The food served on retreat is 100% vegetarian and served buffet style.
If you have any severe food allergies or special dietary requirements, please let us know so we can inform the kitchen in advance.
Ideally please bring Eco/biodegradable personal products.
Please be conscious about how much hot water and electricity you use during your stay. Use of the Air-con will be charged per room if you use it, to discourage use.
Please participate in the recycling system at Balaiana.
WHAT TO BRING
Bath towels will be provided but we won’t be offering additional beach or pool towels. You might bring a light towel or a couple of sarongs.
Basic yoga props are provided, but you are welcome to bring your own mat if you wish.
Refillable water bottle, notebook and pen, a good book and sunglasses.
It is generally warm in Sardinia in June, but there can be cool weather too. A light windproof jacket may be handy especially for coastal visits and hiking and warmer shawls and long sleeves may make you nice and comfy in the mornings/evenings.
Walking shoes or boots may be a nice addition for enjoying the local trails.
Don’t overpack.. we tend not use so many different clothes on retreat, we usually wear light, comfortable and adaptable clothes. Clothes that layer-up well, clothes we don’t need to wash everyday, clothes in which we feel free and relaxed… go in for natural fibres vs synthetics, styles that you feel un-self-conscious in. Travel as light as you can and your back will thank you for it.
